Album Available For The Media

Dear media partners,

I thought you might be interested in reviewing Ophiolatry's album "Serpent’s Verdict".

Ophiolatry's latest album, Serpent Verdict, is a sonic ritual—a brutal and immersive descent into the cycle of destruction, vengeance, and rebirth. Rooted in themes of ancestral pain, warlike defiance, and spiritual reckoning, the album fuses relentless Death Metal with primal energy. Each track is crafted as a chapter in this narrative, blending aggressive riffs, guttural vocals, and tribal rhythms inspired by ancient warrior traditions. Drawing from indigenous spirituality,
Mythology, and actual historical atrocities, this album is not just music—it’s an invocation of the past and a battle cry for the future.

Ophiolatry formed in 1998 in Brazil’s underground by Jhorge "Dog" Duarte (drums), Antonio Costa (guitars), Fabio Zperandio (bass), and Tiago Nunes (vocals). Their raw debut demo Opposite Monarchy (1999) led to a split with Ancestral Malediction and caught international attention when featured on Brazilian Assault (Relapse Records, 2000).

Signing with Evil Vengeance Records, the band released their acclaimed debut album Anti-Evangelistic Process (2002), mastered by Erik Rutan. This was followed by the Misanchristianthropy EP (2003) via Deathgasm Records and a grueling 50-date European tour, solidifying their reputation as a vicious live act.

By 2006, after a series of split releases, Ophiolatry joined Forces of Satan Records (founded by Infernus of Gorgoroth), playing Brutal Assault Festival and contributing to its compilation. In 2008, they dropped their second full-length Transmutation via Regain Records, refining their technical brutality.

After a 13-year hiatus, Ophiolatry returned in 2021 with a revamped lineup featuring Jaime Veron (vocals), Diego Santiago (bass), and Fred Barros (guitars), releasing the crushing single Somehow. In 2022, they joined Extreme Management Group Inc. (Suffocation, Cryptopsy), expanding their global reach.

Their upcoming album, Serpent’s Verdict — recorded by Diego Santiago and mastered by Dan Swanö — marks a ferocious new chapter. Out in 2025 via Wormhole Death Records, the 13-track onslaught reaffirms Ophiolatry’s place among death metal’s most relentless forces.
