For those unfamiliar with the legend, Lizzie Borden was accused of hacking her father and stepmother to death with an axe in 1892, yet was controversially acquitted in a sensational trial. The eerie nursery rhyme, "Lizzie Borden took an axe..." still echoes through pop culture today, feeding the fascination with the case’s unsolved mystery.
