The Mighty Bard is a progressive rock band formed in 2004 near Aylesbury, Buckinghamshire by Dave Clarke and Neil Cockle. The band consists of Dave, Neil, Mark Cadman on bass, and Benj as the lead singer, with Tom Mears on drums and Mark Parker on violin. The band's first album, Blue God and Other Stories was released in 2014 and was well-received by both critics and audiences. Despite some lineup changes, The Mighty Bard continues to create unique and classically progressive music, as showcased in their follow-up album, Beyond The Gate. "Beyond the Gate" is a collection of songs that encapsulate the mystery and wonder of the mystical world. Musically, the band drew inspiration from their love of albums from the 70s, where different band members would introduce disparate ideas to be included in an album, such as rock next to folk next to jazz. |
