"Wasted" Single & Video

Hey friends! Bright Kelly here with another In Review.

Today, we have another track from Germany-based songstress Timea Göghova. We reviewed her song “Wild Storm” some time ago, and it’s nice to have her come across the desk again.

This song feels pretty familiar to me, as someone who’s listened to Timea in the past. Like “Wild Storm”, it features the exquisite piano work of Caro D’Lirium. It’s in a minor key, and it’s not pulling any punches. You’re supposed to feel the singer’s agony here—and you do.

Timea’s versatility is on immediate display in “Wasted.” She’s a strong vocalist with a wide range—perhaps at her best in her lowest registers, where many singers struggle. Her vibrato is extremely present in this song, lending it a monster ballad feel that will appeal to fans of progressive and power metal.

Like “Wild Storm” the songs structural elements are deceptively simple; a piano, a lead vocal, and a harmony vocal. That’s it, and, almost surprisingly, it’s enough.

Timea’s tone is powerfully consistent in this song, and the production is cleaner and more polished than the previous song we reviewed. Likewise, Caro’s piano sounds more robust on “Wasted.” In fact, it’s positively massive. I applaud the composition and the performance by Caro here. Additional kudos are also owed the recording engineer, Martin Schmidt of Audiospezialist Studio, who did his job exceedingly well on this evocative track.

“Wasted” is almost a dirge, in a good way. This is a cry-in-the-bathtub song. A stare-into-the-rainstorm song. It improves in many ways on elements Timea has shown us in previous work.

In short, it’s an effective, beautiful piece from a singer who is obviously growing into her own power.

 I look forward to more.

Timea Göghova is an artist, singer, and songwriter covering various genres. She is singing clean, she screams and she also sings some classic.

She has had two bands, a Melodic Metal Band, Still Awake since 2016 and Passion Control, a Jazzfunk Band, since 2017.

She started her solo project in 2021 in the genres of ballads and R&B.
The solo project Balladesque is in the foreground in 2022, there’ll be more focus on R&B in 2023.

The first ballads are recorded with the piano arrangements from Carolina Melisa Gonzalez alias Caro D’lirium (Argentina), but there are going to be other artists and songwriters featured in this project.

Timea’s love for music and singing was already obvious as a child. Her parents got to know each other in a choir, so singing must have been put in her cradle. After living 2,5 years in London, where she also sang in a choir, in 2001 she finally moves to Germany after falling in love with the German language.
