Gender & Appearance Affecting the Workplace

February 22, 2024 @ 9:30am via ZOOM

Amid the ever-evolving landscape of workplace discrimination laws, savvy employers must regularly review their personnel policies and procedures to ensure compliance with the most recent legal guidance and developments. It may come as a surprise that company dress codes are among the workplace policies that have been the subject of increased litigation and scrutiny by courts and administrative agencies charged with enforcing anti-discrimination laws.  Learn whether your corporate dress code leaves your company vulnerable to the most common employment claims and some best practice tips to revamp your policy.

Sex, Drugs & Videos

March 28, 2024 @ 9:30am via ZOOM

This talk covers three diverse and discreet HR issues that arise occasionally in the workplace. The workplace is an obvious place for personal relationships to blossom, or sour, and to be affected by social media. Marijuana use is now legal in California, but its use, and testing for it, can both protect and perhaps inhibit an employer’s ability to hire and fire.  Cameras – whether using video or both video and audio – can create both positives and negatives for the employer. Jon would discuss each subject and what you can and can’t do – and should or shouldn’t do — as an employer in 2024 and beyond.

Workplace Violence Prevention

April 25, 2024 @ 9:30am via ZOOM

Workplace violence is violence or the threat of violence against workers. It can occur at or outside the workplace and can range from threats and verbal abuse to physical assaults and homicide, one of the leading causes of job-related deaths. Howe ver it manifests itself, workplace violence is a growing concern for employers and employees nationwide.

Wage and Hour

November 14, 2024 @ 9:30am via ZOOM
