| A Message From Adult Christian care As I closed out 2019 and looked back, I was amazed by the kindness and faithful support for ACC from Trinity Lutheran Church. All of us here wish we could find the perfect way to say thank you. Whether it is a validation of our work, a positive conversation during weekly service; our Board Member Darla Batjes who also serves as our President, or our newest Board Member Dave Bruschuk, AKA Santa, who drops by weekly with his cheerful demeanor leading our sing-a longs. Overall your generous spirit has touched us more than we can count. Lastly, Adult Christian Care was blessed by being chosen in December by the 100+ Women Who Care of Elmhurst as their final award recipient of 2019. We were overjoyed by their generous donation. This donation will allow ACC the opportunity to rejuvenate its art program by replenishing much needed supplies, purchase the “right” tools, easels, canvases and explore other forms of art media. Art can help dementia and Alzheimer’s client’s express thoughts, emotions and share memories through painting, drawing, sculpting and other creative projects. Creative arts do not eliminate the illness, but stimulates the brain in new directions, unlocking creativity, communication, and giving the client a sense of self and purpose. In closing, caring is such a part of who you all are at Trinity Lutheran Church, and we hope you are aware of the difference it makes for our clients. Thank you and Happy New Year.
