Burning Barriers Building Bridges (B4) Youth Theatre is a US 501c3 with a mission of empowering young people to become educated citizens through the arts. We have program sites in the United States and Africa and are looking for TWO energetic and passionate Directors. Candidates should have a strong track record of servant leadership, either domestic or international, an interest in youth development, education, and arts, and a commitment to racial justice. Primary duties and responsibilities: - Committed to collaborative, consensus-based decision-making
- Is a partners with the Chief Executive in achieving the organization's mission
- Sets policy and advises the Chief Executive is accountable
- Alternates chairing meetings of the Board after soliciting feedback from all Directors and the Chief Executive
- Encourages Board's role in strategic planning
- Volunteer for leadership in various committees
- Monitors financial planning and financial reports
- Plays a leading role in fundraising activities
- Formally evaluates the performance of the Chief Executive and contributes to collaborative evaluation of the Board as a whole
- Evaluates annually the performance of the organization in achieving its mission
- Performs other responsibilities as agreed upon by the Board
- Provides specialized services according to area of expertise as needed
- Seeks out volunteers, pro-bono services, and donations (including in-kind) to fill gaps in organizational capacity
The board meets bi-monthly with an additional Strategic Planning retreat in September for a total of seven (7) Board of Directors meetings annually for the purpose of sharing reports, voting, and contributing to other high-level decision-making. Directors work in small groups to implement projects in sub-committees between regular meetings. Additionally, Directors commit to an annual contribution between $50 US dollars to $500 based on their ability. All new Directors will be provided a board handbook, and registered for orientation upon successful election. |
