Are you a young aspiring performing artist or filmmaker? Do you want to take action in our local communities? Are you a parent looking for a summer arts program for your child? Join us for a summer youth program with a virtual masterclass series in theatre and filmmaking! Create and produce your own COVID-19 prevention video! Address local community concerns! For years, B4 (Burning Barriers, Building Bridges) Youth Theatre has been committed to working collaboratively across differences and nationalities to bring about equity and social justice. As we celebrate our ten year anniversary amidst growing health disparities, which have always existed but that are receiving more attention due to COVID-19 and heightened media around police violence, we're proud to introduce the Global Youth Arts Collaborative Healthy Lives Training Initiative (GYACHLTI). GYACHLTI is an virtual program designed to engage global youth artists ages 10-18 in the creation of a COVID-19 health prevention video campaign. The initiative will empower youth to develop the skills to achieve this through online masterclasses with theatre and filmmaking experts! Understanding that racial inequity undergirds health disparities in the areas we primarily serve (Liberia and the United States), young artists will explore the way their daily lives and wellbeing are impacted by a variety of policies and practices, resulting in poorer health outcomes for communities around the world. Drawing on our experience as leaders in health communications during the Ebola epidemic, GYACHLTI will allow young people worldwide to address their local concerns around these important global health issues. Join us and apply today! Space is limited! The program will start on June 22, 2020 and run through August 31, 2020.
