He works justice for those who are pressed down by the world, providing food for those who are hungry. He frees those who are imprisoned; He makes the blind see. He lifts up those whose backs are bent in labor; He cherishes those who do what is right. (Psalm 146:7-8)

June

We lost our beloved Prince, one of the first two full-sized horses we received as gifts for the ranch. I’ve been reflecting on how God promises to not only wipe away every tear (Rev. 21:4), but to comfort us when we mourn (Matt 5:4). I pray that you experience God’s comfort and blessing if you find yourself in a time of loss.

Now grab a cup of coffee and find out what we’ve been up to!

Prince

Rest In Peace, Sweet Prince

With heavy hearts, we put down our horse, Prince, as his health was failing and he could no longer stand on his own. While this has certainly been hard on me and my kids, it is especially hard on the resident who was paired with Prince. Each of our residents is paired with one horse for the entire time she is here. Prince’s resident had this to say about her relationship with this marvelous, gentle horse: "I was for sure horses weren't gonna help me when I first got here, but he did. He's taught me so much. I got a whole year with him. He taught me patience. He taught me love; real love. He taught me trust; a lot about trust." Please be in prayer for my family, but especially for Prince’s resident.

2024 Hootenanny - Mark Your Calendar!

This year's Hootenanny, our premier event, is coming up on Friday, September 27th, 2024. We will again be at the barn at Mountain Heights venue, and you'll be able to order tickets soon. We sold out last year!

Bledsoe County Camp Run Free In The Books!

In spite of a last-minute change of venue for this camp, we can report that it was a success, with 37 children participating in this free, week-long day camp. However, please be in prayer for Bledsoe County. We believe that our change of venue was the result of spiritual warfare. Due to the heat and lack of shade, we need to use the fairgrounds in order to offer camp in Bledsoe County again next year. Please be in prayer for the logistics of this to work out; this county greatly benefits from this outreach.

Leather Workshop For The Residents

Thank you to Joe Lee for leading a workshop for the residents on how to work and tool leather, which was generously donated by Tandy Leather. Residents were shown how to make and customize practical items, like key chains and coasters, as one of their “Enjoy Life Day” activities. One of the symptoms of post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) is an inability to simply enjoy life without the fear of something bad happening, so fun workshops like these give them a chance to experience fear-free enjoyment.

Building a Firm Foundation: Update on Executive Director Search

We are still working through the selection process for an Executive Director. Please be in prayer for wisdom for our Board of Directors.

Answered Prayer:

We praise God for the opportunities we have had to partner with other churches and community events. In May I had the opportunity to speak at Virginia Beach United Methodist Church.  I have also begun partnering with Maurice Draine to offer various trainings in our local communities.

Prince’s passing, while very sad, was a beautiful occasion for us to support each other as we mourn. We thank God for the way He brought us closer together.

Stop_Human_Trafficking_Image

Human Trafficking By State

Find out where your state ranks in terms of the number of people trafficked per 100,000 in population. Mississippi has far and away the highest rate, at nearly 8 people trafficked per 100,000 people in the state. Massachusetts, by contrast, has just over 1 person per 100,000 people who are trafficked in the state. Most states have fewer than 3 per 100,000, but more than 2.

Prayer Pardn'rs

Please pray for the resident who was partnered with Prince. Losing this precious horse was a blow to all of us, but especially for her. Please also be in prayer for my kids; Prince was part of the family for most of their lives.

Please continue to be in prayer for our Board of Directors as they narrow down the candidates for Executive Director.
