He works justice for those who are pressed down by the world, providing food for those who are hungry. He frees those who are imprisoned; He makes the blind see. He lifts up those whose backs are bent in labor; He cherishes those who do what is right. (Psalm 146:7-8)

July

Our two recent Camp Run Free experiences gave me the chance to reflect on how God is able to touch people’s hearts in ways that I could never orchestrate myself. I could never predict which child will give his or her heart to Christ, or which volunteer will be the most effective at reaching someone. We serve an amazing God, and I’m so grateful to get to play a small part in His plan.

Now grab a cup of coffee and find out what we've been up to!

What Is It Like to Staff One of Our Camps?

Our own Becca Randolph organized a team from her church, Grace Bible Church, to staff our Camp Run Free week in Rhea County. We typically need about 20 people to staff one of our camps: ten volunteers for each of our ten horses (each volunteer is paired with a horse), then we assign volunteers to the teams of kids and to activities, such as crafts, Bible study, and lessons for the kids about understanding their value and purpose.

So, what does it look like for a volunteer? Natalie, a member of the youth group from Grace Bible, had no prior experience with horses. We gave her an hour-long training the weekend before the camp began (camps run on Monday through Friday), then she showed up on Monday morning around 7:00am (non-horse volunteers get to start at 7:30am). She was paired with Trigger, one of our more  assertive horses. While she was never required to ride Trigger, she did need to lead him around, and she quickly learned leadership skills to be effective with Trigger.  It was  fun to watch her grow in  this way over the course of the week!

Natalie and other volunteers would finish up the day with a half-hour team meeting around 2:15, then spend maybe another 30 minutes with final horse duties before calling it a day. She and the other volunteers got fed breakfast, lunch and a snack. She also got to participate in "Family Night" on Friday at the end of the camp. Most volunteers, like Natalie, are glad they did it. You or your church group can staff one of our camps, too! We love working with youth groups from around the country to impact those youth as well as the campers.  If you're interested, reply to this email, or you can email me directly at blazinghopeTN@gmail.com.

Thanks again to the volunteers from Grace Bible. Next year, it could be YOUR church group having all the fun!

Jordyn Is A High Schooler

David and I advocated for Jordyn to skip 8th grade this year and move right up into high school. Jordyn is very excited, and David and I are just beginning to grapple with the reality of having a high schooler in the house. Josiah will be starting 6th grade, Dakota starts 4th grade in the fall.

Answered Prayer: Praise God that we have our six beds filled again! Praise that we also now have our ten-passenger van here at the Ranch, and we are now able to take all of our residents in one vehicle.

Praise God and huge thanks to the youth group from Westminster PCA of Dayton for raising the funds to purchase and install a secure gate opener. Now, only people with a code will be able to get in and out of our Ranch, increasing security (it also allows us to stay dry when it's raining). They raised so much money that we have leftover funds to put toward setting up our workout room (see prayer request below).

Red Sand Project Raises Awareness of Human Trafficking

Read how communities across Tennessee will participate in this project, which uses red sand to draw attention to the human trafficking victims that fall through the cracks of our society every day.

Prayer Pardn'rs

Please pray for our horses as they recover from our two Camps. Camps are stressful for our horses, and they need time to rest and recuperate. Please pray that they will recover quickly.

Please pray for our new workout facility! We have already received some workout equipment from Rhea County Community Center (aka RC3), and we are partnering with The Lab for help in getting the room properly set up. Stay tuned for more developments!

Please pay for a graduating resident's car needs. We have a resident graduating from our program in December who is looking for a safe and reliable car. Please reply to this email if you know of someone who has a reliable car to donate or sell at a low price.

Please pray that we would partner with more churches who want to help us in our mission. We will be visiting a supporting church in Virginia; David and I have also begun discussions with two other churches to partner with us. We would be happy to come to your church and share what we do here.

Help us in our mission!

Would you be willing to join our Freedom Wranglers? Freedom Wranglers support our mission with monthly donations. Please click on the Donate button to support the important work we do to restore wholeness to female survivors of human trafficking, and to weaken the sex trade through the power of Christ. Your monthly donation of as little as $10 per month can help a resident begin a new life.

Would you consider hosting a meeting with your philanthropically-minded friends? We would be happy to visit your home and make a brief presentation about our mission to people you think would like to support us financially.

Do you have a friend (or friends) who would also be willing to pray for us? If so, please forward this email to them or post this email on your social media account.
