He works justice for those who are pressed down by the world, providing food for those who are hungry. He frees those who are imprisoned; He makes the blind see. He lifts up those whose backs are bent in labor; He cherishes those who do what is right. (Psalm 146:7-8)

February

As I'm reading through Beth Moore's Breaking Free bible study, I'm reminded that God's definition of "true love" looks a bit different from our ideas - especially around Valentine's Day. For example, God's love might cause us discomfort when we choose to rebel; He might allow us to go to a dark place. And yet we need only turn to Him in repentance, and He will welcome us with open arms.

Now grab a cup of coffee and find out what we've been up to!

God is Good! Six Beds Now Full!

We are amazed and humbled at what God has done in such a short time:

  • We have filled six beds for the first time ever
  • Guardians of Hope had their first meeting (see below)
  • Restoration Reins, our program of partnering with other anti-trafficking organizations to provide horse mentoring, has kicked off with our first partnership with Her Song (see below)

Guardians of Hope - First Meeting!

We tend to focus on the "supply" side of human trafficking - the victims and the traffickers. But they could not exist without the "demand" side - the men (and some women) who will pay for the services that the traffickers supply. Guardians of Hope consists of men who will raise awareness of this "demand" side of the problem, and help build up leaders who will demand accountability. This wonderful group of men met for the first time this month! We are excited about what God can accomplish through them.

Connecting "Restoration Reins" with Her Song

Praise God that we are able to partner with Her Song to provide equine-assisted mentoring (what we call "Restoration Reins") for Her Song survivors of sex-trafficking. Her Song is just one of the many groups in Tennessee with which we hope to partner. Stay tuned for more partnerships in the future!

Camp Run Free Dates!

Do you have a high school or college-age group that wants a mission this summer? (No horse skills required!) We have the July dates covered, but we're still looking for groups for two more camps in June.

Hope Haven Wish List!

Would you like to help our residents in a more tangible way? Here is a "wish list" of very practical items available on Amazon, such as trash bags, laundry detergent, tampons, shampoo and other toiletries. There are also some fun things for the residents, such as coloring pens and perfume.

When you go to check out, be sure to uncheck the radio button next to your own shipping address, and instead, check the radio button next to: Hope Haven's Gift Registry Address. There is no need to have an item wrapped, unless you would like to.

Answered Prayer: Praise God that we have filled all six of our beds and that we are moving forward with both Guardians of Hope and Restoration Reins. This has been an exciting month! Also, we thank the women's group at Brainerd Presbyterian Church for their Valentine's Day gift bags for our residents, and we thank the Women's Bible Study at Brentwood Baptist Church for their gift bags to our staff. Your generosity is greatly appreciated!

Prayer Pardn'rs

Please pray for a solution to high medical expenses! Since we filled our last couple of beds, medical expenses for our residents have been very high ($1000 in the last month alone). None of our residents has their own insurance, and our state rules make Medicaid difficult to qualify for. We are working with our local providers to provide discounts or "pro bono" services. If you would like to help specifically with these expenses, click the "Donate" button below or this link and you'll have an opportunity to specify how you want your donation applied.

Please also continue to pray for a ten-passenger van. We are in the process of applying for a grant that could cover a portion of the purchase price.

Help us in our mission!

Would you be willing to give up one or more coffees each month to support us? Join our "Freedom Wranglers" by clicking on the Donate button to support the important work we do to restore wholeness to female survivors of human trafficking, and to weaken the sex trade through the power of Christ. Your monthly donation of as little as $10 per month can help a resident begin a new life.

Do you have a friend (or friends) who would also be willing to pray for us? If so, please forward this email to them or post this email on your social media account.

Want to read a past newsletter? You can find them all here.

Finally, let us know what you think (and please feel free to unsubscribe using the link below if you don't want future newsletters). We'll look forward to hearing from you!
