He works justice for those who are pressed down by the world, providing food for those who are hungry. He frees those who are imprisoned; He makes the blind see. He lifts up those whose backs are bent in labor; He cherishes those who do what is right. (Psalm 146:7-8) |

| August In my devotions, I've been struck at how the Lord provides us with "statutes" to keep us safe. Psalm 119:2 says, "Blessed are those who keep His statutes and seek Him with all their heart..." I don't always take the time I should to express gratitude to God for His commandments. I pray that you, too, will be blessed by keeping His statutes and seeking Him with all your heart. Now grab a cup of coffee and find out what we've been up to! |

Hootenanny Update - Our Big Annual Fundraiser! Join us in person! I'm grateful you follow us with this newsletter, but how much more fun would it be to see David and me in person? |
|

| Food, Fun and Folk Music will play starring roles - and of course, we need you to create the fun. Dress casually and bring the whole family - we'll have outdoor spaces for the kids. Here is the link to purchase your ticket online. Your ticket covers the cost of the event; we hope you'll consider bidding on a Silent Auction item or providing an extra donation to support operations on the ranch. |

Every dollar given above your ticket price enables us to "restore wholeness to female survivors of human trafficking and weaken the sex trade through the power of Christ." Spread the news! Are you already planning to attend? Then copy the note below to your preferred social media site and invite your friends to join you: |

“Please join me for the 2022 Hootenanny for Hope, the annual fundraiser for Blazing Hope Ranch, on September 29th! There will be a full dinner, live music, live art, and a silent auction. This Rhea County ministry helps survivors of sex trafficking thrive, teaches preventative measures to kids through summer camps, and advocates for the reduction of the demand for trafficking locally and worldwide. Your presence would make a huge difference. Visit this link for tickets and more!” Consider asking the stores and vendors you frequent to see if they would be willing to offer a good or service for the silent auction. Contact Juliana Bartra, 865-414-4885, with your auction items. See photos from past Hootenannies here. |

Tuesday is Therapy Day Starting in the May issue, I’ve been describing how we organize our days for our residents around healing themes (you can see these articles in previous newsletters found here). This month, we focus on Tuesdays. Here on the ranch, we call Tuesday “Therapy Day.” |
|
| |
---|
Every Tuesday, our residents work with a Christian therapist specializing in trauma. From a Christian perspective, God is the Great Restorer: “And the God of all grace, who called you to His eternal glory in Christ, after you have suffered a little while, will Himself restore you and make you strong, firm and steadfast.” (1 Pet 5:10). As image-bearers of Christ, we look to restore our brothers and sisters. Therapy is a powerful tool in our arsenal. Processing traumatic experiences: - Helps the resident to take control of the experience
- Helps to restore physical and hormonal balance to the body
- Allows residents to begin to form healthy relationships
I pray that you will set aside time each week to meditate on God’s Word and seek professional help if so led. |

| Goings On At The Ranch The Chattanooga Roller Derby, held this past July 30th, chose Blazing Hope Ranch as the non-profit beneficiary of their sales proceeds! While the Roller Derby is not a Christian organization, Romans 8:28 reminds us, "in all things God works for the good of those who love him." |

Bonfire Worship Night starts up on the second Friday of every month; our first one was Friday, 8/12. Worship is led by volunteers and it's open to residents, staff and volunteers. |

Answered Prayer: Praise God that my family was able to enjoy a wonderful vacation at Flagler Beach in Florida. It was a vital time of reconnection, and it allowed David and me to pour into our kids before they start school again. |
|
| |
---|
As our kids return to school, please pray for a smooth transition out of the freer summer months and into a more scheduled and disciplined time. If you feel so led, we are still looking for donations to help us cover an ever-increasing insurance bill. Over the last two years, the cost has increased over 60%, from $11,000 to $18,000 for the year. Scroll down to click the "Donate" button. Thank you! |

Help us in our mission! Would you be willing to give up one or more coffees each month to support us? Join our "Freedom Wranglers" by clicking on the Donate button to support the important work we do to restore wholeness to female survivors of human trafficking, and to weaken the sex trade through the power of Christ. Your monthly donation of as little as $10 per month can help a resident begin a new life. Do you have a friend (or friends) who would also be willing to pray for us? If so, please forward this email to them or post this email on your social media account. Want to read a past newsletter? You can find them all here. Finally, let us know what you think (and please feel free to unsubscribe using the link below if you don't want future newsletters). We'll look forward to hearing from you! |
