He works justice for those who are pressed down by the world, providing food for those who are hungry. He frees those who are imprisoned; He makes the blind see. He lifts up those whose backs are bent in labor; He cherishes those who do what is right. (Psalm 146:7-8)

July

In hearing our residents' stories, I've been reminded how creative God is. Not just in the sense of creating the Universe and everything in it, but in His creativity in leading us on a unique life path, custom-fit for each one of us, just as He's led each of these brave women to our doors.

Now grab a cup of coffee and find out what we've been up to!

Camp Run Free - June Camps

We held two Camp Run Free camps in June attended by over 70 students, ages 8 to 13.  A couple of the students gave their lives to the Lord in the first camp. A student in our second camp wrote of his experience: "No matter who you are, you fit in." The purpose of these camps is very simple:  We help kids recognize their God-given value and teach them to resist the tactics of human traffickers. And we have a lot of fun doing it!

Monday is Outdoor Day

Starting in the May issue, I’ve been describing how we organize our days for our residents around healing themes (you can see these articles in previous newsletters found here.) This month, we focus on Mondays. Here on the ranch, we call Monday “Outdoor Day.” From a Christian perspective, being outside reminds the believer that God is in control, that even creation worships Him, and that His wisdom is reflected in nature.

Even beyond these points, time in nature is considered so healing that doctors will prescribe it. The studied benefits include better sleep and reduction in stress, including reductions in blood pressure, excess weight and risk of disease. People suffering from post-traumatic stress syndrome (PTSD), or who are living at a high level in the window of tolerance (described in March’s newsletter) in particular can benefit from spending time out in nature - which our ranch provides in abundance. Psychologists have noted that spending time out of doors also reduces depression and significantly boosts feelings of well-being.

Our residents get to choose from a range of outdoor activities. As an example of a recent Monday, we took the residents swimming. One of the residents had never gone swimming before, and we were able to teach her the basics. On a prior Monday, we went horseback riding. Two of the residents had been afraid to ride, but on that day they bravely got on their horses and joined us for the ride.

I pray that you will set aside time each week to be outside and worship the Lord’s creation.

Goings On At The Ranch

We are so grateful for the youth group from Westminster Presbyterian Church for their work this month on the Prayer Cabin! Special thanks to McCosh Landscaping & Supply for helping make it beautiful. You can see more photos from this day on our Facebook page.

Answered Prayer: Praise God that we received a grant and donation from Infiltrator Water and Southeast Bank  for septic materials and other ranch projects!

Prayer Pardn'rs

I need personal prayer that I would better balance my days--between running two camps last month, having four residents for the first time and driving the seven extra horses we had for the camps back to their homes in Florida this month, I'm short on sleep.

If you feel so led, we are looking for donations to help us cover an ever-increasing insurance bill. Over the last two years, the cost has increased over 60%, from $11,000 to $18,000 for the year. Scroll down to click the "Donate" button. Thank you!

Help us in our mission!

Would you be willing to give up one or more coffees each month to support us? Join our "Freedom Wranglers" by clicking on the Donate button to support the important work we do to restore wholeness to female survivors of human trafficking, and to weaken the sex trade through the power of Christ. Your monthly donation of as little as $10 per month can help a resident begin a new life.

Do you have a friend (or friends) who would also be willing to pray for us? If so, please forward this email to them or post this email on your social media account.

Want to read a past newsletter? You can find them all here.

Finally, let us know what you think (and please feel free to unsubscribe using the link below if you don't want future newsletters). We'll look forward to hearing from you!
