To use or not to use L1 — that is the question

Hi there, 

thank you for attending the webinar. Hope you've heard lots of useful ideas to deal with some common issues related to using L1 while teaching English. 

We’ve got a couple more handy things to share with you. If you aim at testing your knowledge in specific areas of English language teaching, increase your confidence and enhance job prospects, consider taking Teaching Knowledge Test (TKT). TKT focuses on the core knowledge needed by teachers of primary, secondary or adult learners, anywhere in the world. If you have decided to take this exam, you will need to have a clear understanding of the format, revise all topic areas from the syllabus, and do some sample tasks for practice. Prepare for TKT

If you consider improving your skills and getting an international qualification in teaching English, take CELTA Part-time online course, that starts in January! CELTA will provide you with all the knowledge and experience needed to teach English effectively. 

Course dates: January 29th, 2021 — April 25th, 2021

Course timing: 3,5 months: 150 hours = 120 contact hours* + 30 self-study hours**

  • Fri 18:30 – 21:30
  • Sat 9:00 – 18:00

If you prefer working with kids, there is a practical English teaching qualification that provides teachers with all the skills needed to get the best from 6–12-year-old learners – CELT-P. What is CELT-P course format?

  • 120 hours of online work + 30 hours of live sessions with the trainers including lectures, articles, tests, and tasks;

  • 27 hours of face-to-face classes with a tutor;
  • 9 practical written tasks on lesson planning; 
  • 3 observed teaching practice sessions 40–60 minutes each.

For those of you, eager to teach 11–18-year-old learners, we offer a blended CELT-S course. This course will help teachers to come up with strategies for the main challenges of teaching English to teenagers, such as classroom management and learners' motivation. What is CELT-S course format?

  • 120 hours of online work + 30 hours of live sessions with the trainers including lectures, articles, tests, and tasks;

  • 24 hours of face-to-face classes with a tutor;
  • 8 practical written tasks on lesson planning; 
  • 3 observed teaching practice sessions 40–60 minutes each.
