President Trump has demonstrated this week how Republicans need to stand their ground when liberals try to demean and silence conservatives. Earlier this week, Nancy Pelosi sent a letter to President Trump declaring that she would try to delay his State Of The Union as a ploy to try and put pressure on President Trump to capitulate in the battle over the government shutdown.
Pelosi said the shutdown meant there would not be adequate security in the Capitol to hold a presidential address. The media piled on, more than happy to attack the president.
Too often Republicans back down to these tactics to pressure and intimidate us. But President Trump didn't fall for this stunt.
Instead President Trump canceled Pelosi's overseas, government-funded, publicity trip she had planned, pointing out that if Pelosi was concerned about government funding during the shutdown then obviously there no were not funds for a government junket for Pelosi. Trump then had the military deliver her luggage that had already been loaded on a plane to be dumped outside Pelosi's office in the Capitol. Below is a copy of Trump's letter to Pelosi informing her of the cancellation of her trip and a photo of her luggage piled up outside her office. |
