Rule 612 - Face-Off Locations

Lots of great examples in the Casebook

The real bottom line is 612(g) - A team causing a stoppage of play shall not gain a territorial advantage with the ensuing face-off. In this instance, the
ensuing face-off shall be at the nearest face-off spot closer to their own goal.

These examples are not all encompassing; they are just the more common situations:

Puck carrier is in the neutral zone, but has not made it to the neutral zone face-off dots when they dump the puck into the attacking zone while there is a teammate still in the attacking zone. Center Ice faceoff

offside1

The puck carrier is in the neutral zone, but has not made it beyond center ice when they dump the puck into the attacking zone while there is a teammate still in the attacking zone. Neutral zone faceoff - on the defending side of the red line

offside2

The puck carrier is in their defending zone, when they dump the puck into the attacking zone with a teammate still in the attacking zone. Defending End Zone Faceoff

offside3

The puck carrier passes the puck to a player who is very obviously offside - Intentional Offsides - Defending End Zone Faceoff
