A new low-energy sterilization system for precision fermentation, developed by Portuguese spinoff Delox, has been successfully validated at Food4Sustainability CoLAB’s R&D unit at Ampliaqua®, through BGI’s Sustainable Foods Testbeds platform.

Offering around 70% energy savings compared to traditional steam-in-place systems, this technology reduces both operational costs and infrastructure requirements while enabling more efficient and scalable bioprocessing.

Now being applied in the development of next-generation biofertilizers and biostimulants, this milestone highlights the critical role of testbed infrastructures in accelerating industrial biotechnology and supporting a more resilient and sustainable bioeconomy.
