Dear Builder,In the recent EIT Food Trust Report, with a survey involving close to 20,000 participants across 18 European countries, a concerning trend has emerged: fewer consumers are making healthy and sustainable food choices, accompanied by a significant decline in trust in food sector actors such as manufacturers, authorities, retailers, and even farmers. Only a third of consumers believe that the food they eat is sustainable and less than half (44%) of Europeans think their diets are healthy, reflecting a broader skepticism towards the food they consume. The report also highlights a decline in trust in food innovation, with only a third of consumers open to new food products. However, younger consumers show more openness, with 44% of 18–34-year-olds willing to try new food products, compared to just 24% of those aged 55 and above. To address these critical issues and foster a more resilient and trusted agrifood sector, we invite you to join us in Arruda dos Vinhos on July 10th, for Agrifood Open Day. This event will bring together key stakeholders from the agrifood industry, including startups, researchers, and industry leaders, to discuss the vital role of innovation, entrepreneurship, and education in strengthening the sector's resilience. Your participation will contribute to meaningful dialogue and actionable strategies to rebuild consumer trust and promote sustainable and healthy food choices. Sign up here ✍️! The BGI Team |
