Maggie maggiehenhouse@btinternet.com UK - London Group practices 10th December 11-2 (Kensington) 21st January 11-1 (Farringdon) 18th February 11-1 (Farringdon) UK - Bristol Saturday 16th December 2017 "Retreat in the City" day The Dharma Ocean Bristol group would like to invite you to join us for a "Retreat in the City" day on Saturday 16th December 2017 at our base within the Bristol Shambhala Meditation centre. Join us in a day of deepening our practice, sharing, and possibly eating together in the evening if you feel called to do so. There will be no teacher/facilitator present, however we will have a schedule of practice that will enable us to enter into a day of precious silence in the midst of impending Christmas busy-ness. We will begin sitting at 10:00am and finish by 5:30pm. You are welcome to join us for the whole day or for either half of the day. The first half of the day is from 10:00am-1:30pm, and the second half from 2:30pm-5:30pm. You may view a suggested retreat schedule at this link here. After the retreat, there is an open option to go on to a restaurant or nearby pub to continue sharing. Shambhala's shrine room can accommodate approximately 17 people lying down. The Centre has meditation mats (zabutons), square block cushions (they look like this), yoga mats, and blankets all available to use. You are also welcome to bring your own cushions for familiarity and comfort. A map showing the Centre's location can be viewed here: https://goo.gl/maps/xaSDrnpc1VN2 The venue hire cost of £60 will be shared amongst all attendees. We suggest donating what you can afford to cover this cost. Any excess donations may be used to pay for other costs (e.g. teas, milk, non-dairy milk) or offered to Shambhala as thanks and dana towards the upkeep costs of the venue since without them we would not have a home. Please contact either Petrina or Jon at dharmaoceanbristol@gmail.com for bookings or queries, or to find out further about our regular Saturday group meditation sessions. UK - England May 2018 Dharma house concert tour "Daemon & Airdrie." Marley Iredale and Jesse Thom (image below), full-time touring musicians who will be serving as meditation instructors at the upcoming june retreat, are aiming to do a 2-3 week house concert tour prior to the retreat (sometime in May) specifically for members of the sangha and any/all friends of those members. Each show will begin with a guided practice followed by live music. Marley and Jesse, who record and tour both as solo artists as well as a duo, write songs that are very much inspired by the meditation/embodiment journey. Details are still coming together, but they are really excited to put this little tour together and to practice/perform wherever sangha gather in and around the UK. If anyone feels inspired to host an evening of practice and performance, please get in touch with jesse: jesse.thom@gmail.com |
