| WILLIAMSPORT, PA (March 22, 2019)Arthaus Projects, a community-oriented non-profit art space located in downtown Williamsport, has a jam-packed schedule to close out their first ever experimental art exhibition "Don't Feed the Artists." From stand up comedy, to drawing courses, to a closing event for the show, there is something for everyone coming up. On Friday, March 22 The Comedy Shop will bring Comedian Krish Mohan's highly rated, award-winning Stand-up Comedy show to Arthaus Projects. Doors open at 7:30 pm, and the show starts at 8 pm. Tickets are $5 in advance and $10 at the door. BYOB is available with valid ID. Special Guests for the evening include Rasheed Wesley Jr, Joshua Dweh, and Eddie Kiersnowski. The event is hosted by Kevin Seibert. This is the second time Mohan has performed at the gallery. After the laughter, we will be hosting one of two drawing classes taught by local professor John McKaig. On Saturday, March 23 from 1-5pm we will host an intro to portrait drawing basics class. Then, on the following Saturday, March 30th we will host an intro to drawing basics class. Artists of all backgrounds are encouraged to attend. Registration is $40 for each course or you can save $10 by registering for both on the Arthaus Projects website. Register early as class size is limited. Finally, since the display in the gallery is a little unconventional we will be hosting a closing reception (rather than an opening) on Friday, March 30th from 6-9pm. The closing reception will highlight the works completed in the gallery by emerging artists in the area. We opened "Don't Feed the Artists" on March 1st with 50 blank canvases and invited artists of all ages to come in and paint during normal gallery hours. Over 2/3 of the canvases have been beautifully decorated by artists of all skill sets and backgrounds. Come see the various works and if there are any canvases left, take your hand at painting before the crowd in attendance. We hope to see you at the gallery soon! Every year, we host an open-call juried exhibition which allows even first time artists an opportunity to showcase their work in a professional gallery. Through these juried exhibitions, Arthaus Projects has coached young artists on the “ins and outs” of the art world, aided with how to properly price their work, and assisted with learning how to market themselves as artists. Connections are also commonly made through the gallery that are invaluable to an artist’s future success.
