Gott lacht. Der geheime Polytheismus unserer Zeit.
Thema 2: Prophetie

Liebe Interessierte an lachenden Göttern,
Liebe (zukünftige) Teilnehmer*innen unseres Berliner Philoquiums,

passend zu der Ausstellung des Bublitz. Thesaurós. Uhlandstraße., GABRIEL – Marianische Antiphonen I, wollen wir nun nach koronatischer Pause das zweite unserer Gespräche zum Generalthema „Gott lacht“ führen. Das letzte hatte unter dem Stichwort „Genius“ vor allem die Philosophie Giorgio Agambens und die Rolle des Künstlers als kulturellen Erben des Priesters der entzauberten Welt thematisiert. Das zweite wird nun unter dem Stichwort des „Prophetischen“ stehen.

Zum Prophetischen haben außer Jan Assmann aus unserem Kreis Michael Stahl und Cornelius Mayer Tasch publiziert. In meinem eigenen Buch Der Atemkreis der Dinge wird die Arbeit der Künstler*innen als atmosphärische Arbeit aufgenommen, die nach und nach ersetzt, was der europäische Nihilismus scheinbar opferte, wodurch ein geradezu polytheistischer Himmel entstand, für den gilt, dass Gott weder tot ist noch wiederkehrt, sondern dass er nie ganz verschwunden war sondern eben „lacht“.

Wie sieht das heutige Pantheon des lachenden Gottes aus? Welcher „Religion“ gehören heutige „spirituelle Wanderer“, Künstler*innen und viele Philosoph*innen an? Wie sehen Menschenbilder und Kunstwerke aus, die sich mit den Denk-Figuren des „Pilgers“, der „Weihe“, des „Durchbruchs,“ des „Genius“ usw. beschäftigten?

Der Ort der Veranstaltung ist diesmal, wegen existierender Hygieneauflagen, nicht die Galerie, sondern Schloss Steinhöfel, Schlossweg 4, 15518 Steinhöfel, (ca. 45 Minuten von Berlin-Mitte aus über die Autobahn Richtung Frankfurt (Oder)).

Steinhöfel ist, als eines der Hauptschlösser Friedrich des Großens, hochberühmt und von einem herrlichen Landschaftsgarten umgeben. Um die Schönheit des Ortes zu kosten, verbinden wir das Philoquium mit einem Spaziergang und einem Kaffeetrinken in diesen Gärten. Abschließend folgt ein Abendessen.

Ankunft gegen 15.00 Uhr, um 19.00 Uhr Rückfahrt, oder Abendessen im Schloss. Die ersten 10 Personen, die sich zum Abendessen anmelden, sind zu diesem eingeladen.

Edwin W. Moes/Gabriel ist seit dem 15. September 2015 auf Pilgerschaft. Bis heute hat er als Fußwanderer etwa 15.000 km hinter sich gebracht. Seit 2017 begleitete ihn sein erster Hund Guin, dann kam Chi, der Papa. Ihre beiden Söhne Noah und Logan wurden auf der Reise geboren. Vier schwarze Tiere und ein Wanderer. Das Pack, wie er sagt.

Die Cova da Iria in Fátima, Portugal. Fátima ist, noch vor Lourdes, der größte Marienwallfahrtsort der Welt. Im Sommer 1917 soll an diesem Ort, an einer Steineiche, die Jungfrau Maria drei Hirtenkindern mehrfach erschienen sein. In diesem Marienheiligtum fand am 7. August 2019 die Performance Marianische Antiphonen III statt. Bei dieser Performance begleitete Gabriel die Babykatze NEO, die er einige Tage zuvor aus dem Müll gerettet hatte.

Der Künstler und Bildhauer Bernhard Hoetger schuf 1914 die ikonische steinerne Großplastik Bonze des Humors. Diese steht im öffentlichen Raum in der norddeutschen Künstlerkolonie Worpswede und ist Hauptpatin des Programms von Gott lacht.

Theme 2: prophecy

Dear interested in laughing gods,
Dear (future) participants of our Berlin Philoquium,

Following the exhibition of the Bublitz. Thesaurós. Uhlandstraße., GABRIEL – Marianische Antiphonen I, we want to hold the second of our discussions on the general topic “God laughs” after the corona break. The last one, under the title “genius”, had above all addressed Giorgio Agamben’s philosophy and the role of the artist as cultural heir to the priest in the disenchanted world. The second will now be under the keyword of the “prophetic”.

Apart from Jan Assmann from our circle, Michael Stahl and Cornelius Mayer Tasch have published on the prophetic. In my own book, Der Atemkreis der Dinge [The Breath of Things], the work of the artists in general is taken up as atmospheric work, which gradually replaces what European nihilism apparently sacrificed, creating a downright polytheistic heaven, to which God is neither dead nor returns, but rather was never completely gone but “laughs”.

What does today’s pantheon of the laughing god look like? Which “religion” do today’s “spiritual seekers”, artists and many philosophers belong to? What do human images and works of art look like that deal with the figures of the “pilgrim”, the “consecration”, the “breakthrough”, the “genius” etc.?

This time, due to existing hygiene requirements, the location of the event is not the gallery, but the Castle Steinhöfel, Schlossweg 4, 15518 Steinhöfel, (approx. 45 minutes from Berlin-Mitte via the motorway towards Frankfurt (Oder)).

Steinhöfel, as one of the main castles of Frederick the Great, is famous for its surrounding wonderful landscape garden. To taste the beauty of the place, we combine the philoquium with a walk and a coffee in these gardens. Finally, there will be dinner.

Arrival around 3 p.m., return at 7 p.m., or dinner in the castle. The first 10 people who inquire to stay for dinner are invited by us.

Edwin W. Moes / Gabriel has been on a pilgrimage since September 15, 2015. To date, he has walked about 15,000 km as a hiker. His first dog, Guin, accompanied him in 2017, followed by Chi, the dad. Her two sons Noah and Logan were born on the trip. Four black animals and a seeker. The pack, as he says.

The Cova da Iria in Fátima, Portugal. Fátima is, before Lourdes, the largest place of Marian pilgrimage in the world. In the summer of 1917, the Virgin Mary was said to have appeared three times to three shepherd children at this place, next to an ancient holm oak. The performance Marian Antiphons III took place in this Marian shrine on August 7, 2019. During this performance Gabriel was accompanied by the baby cat NEO, which he had saved from the garbage a few days earlier.

The artist and sculptor Bernhard Hoetger created the iconic stone sculpture Bonze des Humors (bigwig of humor) in 1914. It stands in public space in the North German artists' colony of Worpswede and can be understood as the patron of the program.
