| | | | Concluding Remarks for IABSE's 90th Anniversary in 2019 | | |
---|
| | | The year 2019 was a special year for IABSE as it celebrates its 90th Anniversary! The celebration began during the IABSE Symposium Guimaraes where the IABSE President Fernando Branco presented a special report on IABSE's History. Followed by slicing of 90th Anniversary cake and IABSE flag was handed over to Jose Matos, Chair of the Portuguese Group of IABSE and to passed around National Group Chairs around the world and to travel to IABSE Congress in New York. During the Opening Ceremony, the short video of NG Chairs, speaking at their native language while passing the flag was presented. It was followed by the unfurling of the first IABSE flag received from the Japanese Group in Tokyo in 1976. This is the first flag carrying the emblem of IABSE Logo which symbolizes "Humanity". Finally, the celebration ended with the slicing of the 90th Anniversary cake distributed to all participants at the coffee break. Watch the video here (Video) This year also marked the beginning of Yaojun Ge's 3 year term as President of IABSE, the announcement of 44 Task Groups, and the restructuring of Young Engineers Programme. These are just a few examples of all the milestones that were achieved by IABSE Members together this year. All 2019 issues of SEI journal marked with 90th Anniversary logo on the front cover to commemorate this occasion. The year is ending with publishing a new IABSE Bulletin, SED 17, edited by Andreas Lampropoulos and Mike Schlaich and in making available for members three Young Engineers Colloquium Proceedings (The Netherlands; Germany and Poland; Japan, China, Korea and Hong Kong). Your participation in IABSE activities is necessary to the Association's unceasing drive for a dynamic global network! Learn, Share, and Build a Better World Together as IABSE's Engineers! | | |
