| Mexico 2019 June 6-7, 2019: 2nd Bridge Engineering Workshop Mexico The objective of this event is to bring together national and international specialists in bridges engineering to share research results and discuss main and relevant issues that will shape a bridges regulation code in order to improve the practice of design and construction of this type of infrastructure in Mexico. “A recent example of IABSE’s efforts to integrate the region, is the 2nd Bridge Engineering Workshop organized by the Mexican NG. This event will be held in June 2019 in Puerto Vallarta, Mexico, and follows a first workshop held in 2016. In that time, we had about 340 attendees from 10 different countries. | | China March 19, 2019 Plaque Unveiling Ceremony The Plaque unveiling ceremony took place in China for the Shanghai Tower and the Phoenix Centre which had won the IABSE Outstanding Structure Award in 2016 and 2017. The Plaque was unveiled by IABSE’s President Fernando Branco, in the presence of President Elect. Yaojun Ge, OStrAC Chair Naeem Hussain, IABSE Chinese Members and other dignitaries present there. | Ecuador - New National Group! March 19, 2019 This week, a group of enthusiastic engineers in Ecuador organized the formal creation of the Ecuadorian National Group (NG) of IABSE. The NG held its very first meeting in Guayaquil, Ecuador. There were 11 attendees, including current members and guests, who very likely will join IABSE as well. Three strong partners will be lining up to establish the world’s biggest mobile Ferris wheel as a new crowd-puller in the tourism metropolis of Munich.
