Kuala Lumpur Spring Conference 2018

Deadline for Submission of Abstracts: April 30, 2017

The IABSE Conference Engineering the Developing World in Kuala Lumpur aims to bring together professional engineers, researchers and public agencies, locally, Southeast Asia and from around the world to exchange ideas on engineering issues inherent in developing nations in achieving developed status.

Authors wishing to present a paper at the conference are invited to submit their abstract to the conference themes and topics through the online manuscript platform available here..

Early Bird Registration Fees until May 31, 2017

Join us in Vancouver from September 19-23, 2017, to discuss Engineering the Future. The Scientific Committee has accepted over 450 papers for oral presentations, facilitated poster sessions and special sessions. The Keynote Speakers will be: Gian Michele Calvi, Italy; Peter Irwin, Canada; Yaojun Ge, China and Ronald Eguchi, USA.

Pre-Symposium Workshops are planned under following topics: (1) Seismic Engineering; (2) Timber Engineering; (3) Cold Regions Engineering; (4) Forensic Engineering;(5) Bridge Dynamics (for Young Engineers).

Technical Tours highlighting structures in the region will be organised after the Symposium and will be guided by engineers. Both delegates and accompanying persons are invited to register for these tours which include two boat cruises and a multi-day trip to explore Whistler and the Sea-to-Sky Corridor.

IABSE Conference Bath 2017 - Report

A refreshing and new way of including delegates!

The IABSE Conference Creativity and Collaboration – Instilling Imagination and Innovation in Structural Design was successfully held on April 19-20, 2017 in Bath, UK. The University of Bath set a perfect scene as the conference venue. With a tradition of educating students with emphasis on both architecture and structural engineering, the site was perfectly in the spirit of the conference.

Moving away from the traditional conferences, that are mainly speaker-listener one-way presentations, this conference continued the Geneva Conference format that encouraged delegate’s active discussions and exchange of viewpoints at its workshops and seminars. Read more..

ISDAC 2017

New IABSE Working Group

Ney & Partners -  On March 29, 2017, the jury of the design competition for the new pedestrian bridge between Poissy and Carrières-sous-Poissy unveiled Ney & Partners as winners. The new bridge will be built on the remains of the ‘Vieux Pont de Poissy’, whose history dates back to the 13th century and which was destroyed in 1944. More..

Germany – From March 31 to April 1, 2017, the German and the Dutch Group of IABSE and the Institute for Structural Engineering of the Ruhr-Universität Bochum jointly hosted the 4th Young Engineering Colloquium in Bochum, providing an international platform for young engineers to network and exchange across the borders. Spain -  The Spanish Group of IABSE is supporting the 4th International Conference on Mechanical Models in Structural Engineering, CMMoST 2017, which is being organised together with several Spanish Universitie in Madrid from November 29 to December 1, 2017, more..

USA – Future of Design (FOD) will be hosted by the US Group of IABSE in New York City on April 29, 2017. FOD will explore new ways of designing, building, and collaborating.
