IABSE Kuala Lumpur 2018: NEW Technical Tour!

Acre Works Casting Yard: April 26, 2018, 08:30 – 12:00

This casting facility, located about 22km from downtown KL, has to-date cast an estimated 8,343 nos. of segments for Segmental Box Girders (SBG) for projects such as LRT2, MRT1, and several highways. These include 24 Balanced Cantilever Crossings (BC) of spans up to 95m. The current production includes the supply in excess of 7,500 nos. of SBGs for MRT2 and the DASH Highway. Technical Tours are complimentary. Early registration is recommended, as spaces are limited and on first come first serve. For all Technical Visits you will find information here..

Publications

Structural Engineering International, February 2018

This was the first issue to be published by Taylor and Francis (T&F). SEI February 2018 was printed and distributed by T&F to all Members and Subscribers and the journal is already available online on their website. From Jan-March´18 transition took place with Laserwords SPi (copyeditor and typesetter, India), AVD (printer, Switzerland) and Ingenta (Online Hosting, UK). SEI May issue (topic: France) will be entirely edited, typeset, printed and distributed by T&F. This issue is currently under production. IABSE Members can download SEI online from the IABSE Members Area.

Obituary: Thomas Spuler

The sudden demise of President and CEO of the Board of Directors, Mageba on March 1, 2018 has shocked many. He was an active IABSE member, who participated regularly in IABSE events, committees and was a Member of the Foundation Council. Foundation and IABSE members including the Executive Director attended the funeral service in a church on March 15, in Bülach, Zurich.
