Preliminary Invitation

The Malaysian Group of IABSE will be hosting the IABSE Conference ‘Engineering the Developing World’ in Kuala Lumpur from April 25-27, 2018. The Call for Papers will open shortly, participants willing to present a paper are invited to submit an abstract online by April 30, 2017.

The Technical Programme of the Bath Conference will take place over two days, with plenary sessions, three parallel lecture streams, seminar sessions and a series of design workshops. WG 12: Design of Bridges Against Fire Hazards

Prof. Ignacio Payá Zaforteza from the Politechnical Universtity of València and Prof. Maria Garlock from Princeton University, are the initiators for the creation of this new Working Group. They have been working for a long time together on bridge fires and were aware of the lack of guidelines or codes specific for bridge fires despite their importance. Read more..

UK - IABSE Milne Medal Lecture Report 

The Milne Medal is awarded to an individual engineer for excellence in structural design, both in the overall concept and in the attention to detail in their work, and is named in recognition of the late Bob Milne, who served for many years as the Honorary Secretary of the IABSE British Group. James O’Callaghan wowed a packed audience at the IStructE headquarters with his presentation for the 2016 Milne Medal. Read the report..

On October 27, 2016, IABSE Denmark and the Technical University of Denmark organised a successful and well-attended mini-seminar for MSc students. The students were offered the possibility to meet structural engineers in different jobs and to hear about work on interesting projects and different tasks solved by structural engineers. Fazlur Rahman Khan Distinguished Lecture Series

The Fazlur R. Khan Distinguished Lecture Series at Lehigh University honours Dr. Khan’s legacy of excellence in structural engineering and architecture was initiated by Prof. Dan M.
