| | Ney + Partners - The winners of the Footbridge Award 2017 were announced September 6. Park Bridge Spoor Noord is joint winner in the category medium Span with the Weinbergbrücke of Schlaich Bergermann Partners. The jury’s comment on the Parkbridge is: “A simple yet very effective solution which creates an interesting crossing for users even though it is fully enclosed. The jury found it very impressive that a box girder on this scale could be made without any U-frame, web or diaphraghm stiffener. Very clever design and aesthetically strong.” | | |

| | | BBR - Metro extension in France overhead rail network extension takes shape. Construction is underway in Brittany of the new 14km long Rennes Metro Line B which is scheduled to open in 2020. The route which will have 15 stations includes a 2.4km viaduct which is a complex 8.6m wide structure where the use of precast segmental construction will minimise impact on urban traffic and the environment. The installation of the 970 precast concrete segments and some 600t of BBR VT CONA CMI internal PT tendons is being carried out by ETIC, the BBR Network Member for France. | | |

| | The Second Wuhu Bridge is a mega project that will cross the Yangtze River in Anhui Province, China. The main bridge is a cable-stayed bridge with an 806m main Span. Its upcoming connections on both sides are 41.03km in total. This project needs to be completed within 4 years. To meet this strict time demand, prefabricated, externally prestressed segmental box-girder bridges are utilised using an industrialised method. Read the article ‘The Second Wuhu Bridge: An Industrialised Application of External Pre-stressed Box-Girder Bridge in China’, K. Hu, X. Shi, X. Ruan, C. Liang, Z. Liu; China., published May 2017.
