| | | | | Structural Engineering Documents 15 'Engineering History and Heritage - Viewpoints and Approaches'Eberhard Pelke and Eugen BrühwilerThis Structural Engineering Document (SED) is a compilation of contributions devoted to the vast topic of history of structural engineering as well as interventions on heritage structures and structures of high cultural values. Various, sometimes opposed, viewpoints and approaches are expressed and presented. The rather heterogeneous and controversial nature of the content of this SED shall stimulate lively discussions within the structural engineering community who needs to increase the awareness of historical and cultural aspects of structures and structural engineering. SED 15 has been elaborated by IABSE Working Group 9 ’Construction History’ and has the general objective to promote the science of construction history and to demonstrate its importance for structural engineers. It intends to make a significant contribution to modern structural engineering and to provide access to construction history for practicing structural engineers. IABSE Members: download your free ePDF in the Members Area! Give away this SED 15, it is a great X-mas gift for engineers and non-engineers!

| | The IABSE Danish Group invites you to share your experience in operation and maintenance of bridges and civil structures during a two-day conference near Copenhagen on June 25-27, 2018. As management of bridges and civil engineering structures involves significant expenditures, at a time where public resources are constrained, it requires engineers, researchers and public and private agencies to choose solutions, which are efficient in terms of reliability, availability, safety, health, economy and environmental aspects. It is therefore important to ensure that the latest advances in technologies and experiences are shared to ensure the needs of the future are met. The objective of the conference is to provide a forum for owners, operators, designers, researchers, contractors and suppliers to meet, discuss and exchange ideas and experiences within the topics of operation and maintenance of bridges and other civil engineering structures. Keynote Speakers Fernando Branco, Portugal President of IABSE Adriano Maglica, Sweden National Coordinator, Major bridges, Swedish Transport Administration Lars Fuhr Pedersen, Denmark Technical Director, Sund & Baelt Holding A/S Neil A.
